People and companies

Keep track of the people you talk to and the companies they work for, link them to speakers and sessions, and archive the ones you no longer need.

People are your contacts and the speakers TalkBar has met in your sessions. Companies are the organizations they belong to, with your relationship to each one. TalkBar uses both to label speakers, to answer chats and to show context during sessions.

Open Knowledge → People or Knowledge → Companies.

People

The People tab lists everyone TalkBar knows in this workspace. Each card shows the person's name, role, company, email and when you last talked.

Where people come from

  • You add them. Click Add person.
  • You name a speaker. When you name a speaker in a session, that person is linked to the session and appears here. See Speakers.
  • Knowledge scans suggest them. A scan can suggest a new person or new details for someone you have. You approve them in Review.

Confirmed and unconfirmed

Confirmed people are ones you know. Unconfirmed people were found automatically and may still need a name. Confirm a person so speaker assignment recognizes them first in future sessions.

To confirm someone, open their menu and choose Mark confirmed, or tick Confirmed person when you edit them. Mark unconfirmed reverses it.

Companies

Every company has one relationship to you:

Archive

People and companies are archived, not deleted.

  • Archiving a person (Archive in their menu) hides them from search and live context. Memory cards that mention them keep their links.
  • Archiving a company hides it from search and live context. People keep their employer and history.

You can restore either one at any time. Turn on Show archived, then choose Restore from the card's menu.
